A Diamond in the Rough

By: JJ Cheshire
Feedback: FourSilverArrows@aol.com
Universe:  ATF
Rating: PG13, Teen
Characters: Ezra Standish, Maude Standish, Chris Larabee
Disclaimer: I do not own the Magnificent or any of its characters.
This is just for fun and not for profit.
Comments: I seem to be obsessed with phone calls and talking on the
phone lately. What's up with that?
Warnings: Some not so nice wording. Gratuitous drinking because
it's Ezra and he has a flask. Boy should probably slow down.

--------------------------------------------

The engine was turned off and the interior of the car became as dark
as its exterior.

Ezra Standish, the undercover specialist of Team 7, sat still in the
leather seat with his hands on the steering wheel and listened as the
cooling wind caressed the hot metal of the car.

He did a slow count down as he waited for the coming sounds. The
pinging started slowly and then started to bang out a discordant tune
that was strangely comforting to Ezra in the darkness.

He was still sitting in the dark when the metal finally cooled to air
temperature and the only thing left to keep him company was the cool
breeze and the stars.

He finally got up the nerve and stepped out of his silent car and
into the night. Ezra leaned back against the car until his buttocks
were numb. But still he did not move from his resting place.

A slight rattle caught his ear and he turned to more closely examine
his surroundings. Off to his left were two rows of forlorn swings
that were gently swaying in the wind. His curiosity peaked, he
pushed off of the car and stomped his feet to get back his
circulation.

Thirst That Is Yet To Come

By:  JJ Cheshire
Feedback:  FourSilverArrows@aol.com

Universe:  OW
Rating:  Teen, PG-13
Characters:  Chris and Buck

Disclaimer:  I don't own, making no money.
Challenge:  Angels and Demons for Feb. 07.  Well, it’s not really in keeping with the challenge, but I can claim it as inspiration.
Comments:  This is set before the Pilot.

Warnings:  Language
-------

He used to know the day and the place.  Well, at least the month.

And he used to not have this constant burning in the back of his throat from smokin’ and drinkin’.  Hell, he only used to drink the hard stuff when Buck could convince him to stay in town an extra hour instead of hitting the general store for his wife’s canning supplies.

Sin and Virtue

By:  JJ Cheshire

Feedback:  FourSilverArrows@aol.com

Universe:  OW

Rating:  Teen, PG-13

Characters:  Ezra

Words:   100

Challenge:  “Oh, please, leave me out of this.”

Disclaimer:  I do not own Mag7 characters and do not seek to profit.

-------

He could almost hear voices that argued over the gold and emerald ring he found in the dusty street.

It glittered enticingly.

Should he take it?  Keep it?  Turn it in so some poor soul could claim it?  Maybe by someone who truly missed the item, or maybe a conman like himself looking for easy money?

The imagined voices grew louder – querulous and biting.

‘Keep!’

‘Report!’

“Oh, please, leave me out of this,” muttered Ezra darkly.

He left the lone ring in the dirt and continued on his way.

He’d leave the fight between sin and virtue for another day.

Traditions -- Old and New - Part 2

Feedback:  FourSilverArrows@aol.com

Universe:  ATF

Rating:  Teen, PG-13

Characters:  Ezra, Josiah, Nathan

Disclaimer:  I don’t own, not making any money.

Challenge:  St. Patrick’s Day celebration

Comments:  Don’t know where this came from.  I did change an Ezra related item from Mog’s great ATF AU.

Warnings:  Strong Language

-------

“Trouble?” asked Monroe as he swirled a bit of whiskey in his shot glass. He didn’t really like the bystander feeling he had experienced during the phone call. This meeting was similar to all the others in the past, but tonight he felt even more distance between them.

This year, his son was preoccupied and not even offering up the usual pleading for more time with his father. That request was such a sure bet that Monroe already had his ‘we lead separate lives in different cities’ speech already worked out in his mind.

He was miserable.

In the midst of a bar full of drinking and celebrating people, he felt sick and sullen.

“Hey, buddy, what will you have?” asked the bluff looking man behind the dark wood bar. The man looked like he just stepped out of an ad for a St. Patrick’s Day Parade with a plastic molded green bowler hat on his head and a huge ‘Kiss Me, I’m Irish’ button on his neon yellow and green t-shirt.

Ezra Standish shivered and pressed his left arm into his side to settle the pain. “The closest bottle of whiskey you can set your hands upon, my friend. And two glasses.” He shakily pulled out a few bills and placed them on the bar.

The Found Letter - Part 2

By:  JJ Cheshire

Feedback:  FourSilverArrows@aol.com

Universe: OW
Rating:  Teen/PG-13
Characters: Ezra, Inez and Buck. Maude is mentioned.
Disclaimer: I do not own anything but The Found Letter. Not making a dime.
Comments: This was inspired by a real “Found Letter” from the early 1900s.

Warnings:  Language and No Beta.

---------

Ezra did not remember much from his early childhood about his mother and father. His memories were faint where a man should be, but he knew that his mother had been married to Kimball Standish in 1843 and stayed married to him until his death in 1846.

This was just like Maude Standish. If something was not related to a con or a hand of poker, she dumped it on someone else as quickly as possible.

Ezra Standish sat in the saloon and contemplated the three-foot-by-three-foot wooden box that came on the morning stage and the enclosed letter from Chicago.

Opening of m7_bbc

Well, this is a new project that will be in close connection to the Yahoo! group M7_Brothers_by_Choice.

It will be primarily used to house drabbles, ficlets and fics contributed by the group's members.

How to get your fic/drabble in the Archive:
- First, it must be posted at the M7_Brothers_by_Choice group.
- If your fic is longer than 1000 words, it must be broken down into 1000 word chapters.  Each chapter needs to have the heading information.
- Heading Information to include:  Title, Author, Feedback e-mail, Universe, Rating, Characters, Disclaimer, Any Author Comments, Warnings.  It's important to include all of this info since I will use it to tag the entries/posts.
- Please keep in mind the M7_Brothers_by_Choice group rules about content.  If you wouldn't post it at the group, then it shouldn't be posted here.
- In these early days, I will take 1 submission per author per week.  This limit may be lifted when I get into the swing of things.

Thanks,
JJ Co-List Mom
